Remixing Noel Akchoté
It was while visiting the vertiginous Bandcamp of Noël Akchoté that the desire to remix this music came to me: an abundance of albums (690 Discog references ...), titles, styles, various collaborations, reinterpretations (of Albert Ayler to the Beach Boys via Britney Spears), eras (from his first demos to his recent interpretations of early music played on Dobro) ...
An enormous collection of sounds emanating from one of the few French jazz musicians that still interests me.
Each of the 13 remixes that make up this album has been produced with a particular constraint, a bit like a collection of piano studies. I briefly describe these "operating modes" after the title of each track: "8bit et son double", "Attaques / Résonances", "CD Skippin", "CDJ 2000 treat".

C’est en visitant le vertigineux Bandcamp de Noël Akchoté que l’idée de remixer sa musique m’est venue : un foisonnement d’albums (690 références Discog…), de titres, de styles, de collaborations diverses, de réinterprétations (d’Albert Ayler aux Beach Boys en passant par Britney Spears), d'époques (depuis ses premières maquettes jusqu’à ses interprétations récentes de musique ancienne jouée sur Dobro)...
Une collection abyssale de sons émanant d’un des rares musiciens français de Jazz qui m’intéresse encore.
Chacun des 13 remixes qui constituent cet album a été réalisé avec une contrainte particulière, un peu à la manière d’un recueil d’études pour piano. Je décris brièvement ces "modes opératoires" après le titre de chaque morceau : "8bit et son double", "Attaques / Résonances", "CD Skippin’", "CDJ 2000 treat" (comprenne qui peut).
En un mot : “faire de la musique avec de la musique” (Derrick May)
