Au départ de ce projet il y a les toiles et les dessins de Jean-Michel Basquiat et plus particulièrement les mots qui y figurent.
Ces mots omniprésents dans son œuvre, j’ai demandé à des musiciens et musiciennes que j’aime de les dire (ou de les chanter) et en complément, de me confier des sons qui leur paraissaient en rapport avec les reproductions que je leur avais envoyées.
C’est à l’aide de ce matériau que j’ai composé les pièces qui constituent cet album.
Pièces bien sûr contrastées puisqu’elles reflètent la personnalité des treize artistes qui participent au projet, eux-mêmes issus d’horizons musicaux divers : rock, jazz, musiques improvisées, électro acoustique, chanson…

At the beginning of this project are the paintings and drawings of Jean-Michel Basquiat and more particularly the words which appear there.
These omnipresent words in his work, I asked 13 musicians to record them and in addition, to give me sounds that seemed to them in relation to the work of Basquiat.
It is with this material that I composed the pieces that make up this album.
Contrasting pieces since they reflect the personality of the artists who participate in the project, all coming from diverse musical universes : electronic and concrete music, rock, jazz, improvised music…
